There were to be 6 women including me. But it was postponed to today, the 12th between 9:30 - 11AM, now aptly known as Post-Mother's Day Brunch.
As life never stops for mothers, of course I knew right away that it's most likely gonna be an empty table. I was right; not upset in the least, but right...
The six became 5, then 4, then 3, then 2... Me and my next door neighbor, the darling Annette. We both stay home. I'm a recent college graduate and she's waiting for potential job interviews.
We had great conversations about life, houses, children, in-laws, gardening, food and anything else in between. Mostly, I listened...
Heather couldn't come as her own friend/weekend visitor extended her stay that included a ride to the airport. Today, early AM.
Amy had to work. She has an early shift.
Ann will be doing double shifts this week. Starting this morning. Plus she's errand helper for her soon-to-be-bride sister in OK.
Keely couldn't come as her day off was on the weekends only and she had to make up her absences lately, therefore no day off request possible.
See, great ladies taking care of business. Now you know why I wanted to gather them together for a brunch honoring their main jobs, motherhood...
This is what we would have enjoyed...
Some honey wheat muffins with sausage, quiche sampler triangles, fruits, spinach puffs and Lemon Herb CF ice tea.
We would have opened up the brunch with warm hellos and quick updates and intros then ease into our hectic schedule we call our lives. As each invited was to bring something to share, we would have enjoyed asking each other where, how and who made what we brought.
And afterwards, they would have left with these favors, colorful M-n-M's, a basil seed packet, and a grocery notepad.
But today, it was to be just Annette and I. That is completely fine. We had a blast looking at her fam pictures and talking. She even had a hostess gift for me, a great jarred melon-scented candle with a ceramic shade, and a beautiful card. We cherished our time together, strengthening our own friendship.
If you would have joined Annette and I, this would have been your plate...
What's that? Where are the utensils? There are none as this was strictly a "finger foods" brunch!
Oh, well, maybe next year, we'll all get a chance to laugh and eat together...
As for the fam, we had a quiet day... Watched American Idol, ate sandwiches for dinner and the kiddos read and made a blanket castle off the couch...

You are so thoughtful! I bet the absent guests are kicking themselves for missing out on the fun, but I know you will invite them again because you are a very sweet friend! I only wish I was the Ann at the table :-( Maybe someday I can get a tour of Carrolton from the nicest host in Texas!
You created such a beautiful brunch. Too bad your friends weren't able to attend but sounds like you had a nice time visiting with your neighbor! The food looks so yummy, wish I could just reach into the picture for a muffin! ☺ Diane
Oh, Ann definitely! Anytime you can come over, we'll plan a blast! I hope I can see you this weekend!
Diane, the muffins were a hit! I had two left from the original 18! It was yummy!
Sounds like you planned a lovely day.
Thanks for stopping by my blog & helping to make my SITS day special!
Hello and welcome Mimi, glad you found me!
