Too Many Choices

for a post topic that is!

I haven't had my rounds on my blog peeps' sites, but the ones I've visited, their topics were either profound or romantic; thought provoking or hilarious.

As for me, I've been too busy balancing updating our 20-year old house (as in up to code and making sure all switches turn something on and off), gardening, making meals for two families on most dinner nights, getting the kids ready for school, spending time with hubby. You know... the usual stuff that goes on in any household. My head is spinning trying to think of a poignant or heart-tugging topic to write about. Well, so far... NADA, ZIP, BUPKIS!

But for now, while the pain of my lost wisdom has... I mean wisdom teeth has finally subsided that I'm not a pharmacy's fave customer, I can actually think straight and sink my teeth into some great topics to write about: Missing my daughter in Hawaii, my hubby and I's first kiss, messy kitchen, perfect! Gardening bliss and many more... The blogging world is my oyster in choices right now. And I think I've gotten it straight enough to start posting away- next time I remember...

Happy October!

I'm back! Blogging that is! (Plus a Sneak Peek at the house)

Why you ask? Because I QUIT my job! That's why!

It was for the best:
- I can finally UNPACK my house
- I can finally DO interior design where paint is included!
- I can finally NOT USE anymore swear words as my auditory accessory!
- I can finally FILL MY pantry, kitchen, laundry and bathroom cupboards on a consistent basis!
- I can finally BLOG again and DO my tablescape designing at my other blog!
- I can finally breathe!

I'm still adjusting though I was only there for a little over 2 months. I made great friends, but the peace and sanity of my home is and will always be my main priority...

I welcome you all back to my blog. Currently, I'm busy designing and getting to know my house-outside of my bedroom, that is! (That's the main room I saw each day when I was working-LOL)

Here's a sneak peek at my new space... Feng Shui still in progress...

Welcome! C'mon in and see my foyer...
The stones are pink/peach tiles with fossil-looking embedded stones in each. Not totally my style, but good for now. The tiles are cool to the feet even during summer time. Yeah!

Since my Living Room/Library is not setup yet, we will skip that room and have you relax into the Family Room where these unbelievably comfortable couch which reclines on both ends, I consider deadly to my housework duties. LOL
Since we do have five in our family, we opted for another one! See how comfy the customers are?
They are perfect to watch Monsters, Inc. on High Def! (Excuse the lack of curtains and completed look. It does take me a while to finish a design-especially when there's no money!)
Or... to view this wonderful fireplace! The mantle will soon be updated and the cover removed, but can you see its potential? I am not touching one brick!

The kitchen is still a mess since I am still figuring out where things should go. The Dining Room is well...

...still empty since my hutch is still in the storage!

The bedrooms on the next blog or two... 'Til next post!

Packed 2010!

Dewberryscraftywave Blog

Literally! Both in the contextual definition of "full" and "put away in a box". 2010 is shaping up to be one packed year!

This year, our children all are going in separate but momentous occasions- college, middle school and 3rd grade. One, two or all will end up in different schools or district. As well as a baptism and a blessing for our new nephew. We will be visited and visit family and friends. We are definitely moving, to where not solid yet.

Our projects to reign in all these wonderful changes, is a bit dizzying to me, but they have to be done, one day at a time, until we are ready to hand the last furniture to the movers.

We will be traveling more; to visit our newest nephew in Utah, to a college campus, to rent a violin and to visit a new school. We'll be searching houses for sale and hopefully landing one.

We will be dealing with shedding the awful past, cherishing the good, and welcoming the future. We will continue beloved traditions, but in a new setting once again.

But most of all, we look forward to what this year awaits us...

I may not be around to blog much this year, but be assured that you're all gonna be in the front seat of our new set of adventures! So stay tuned!

Inevitable Changes...

As you noticed, I haven't been blogging much. Not that I have nothing to say, I just have to portion my brain cells between planning to continue our current lifestyle of easygoing and packing every little thing we can prior to our not so planned out move yet the end of summer, almost fall, with a heavy dose of organization and reduction. (pictures later)

I'm still baking, budget planning and a mediocre visiting teacher, but since our gift to the Savior this year as a family is to "Be Better Missionaries"... We are choosing to keep our hearts and home open to all possibilities and promptings on what that would entail. (If you know us, opportunities are never in short supply. Just the way we like it.)

So, what's in store?

Time with family and friends
Traveling (more to college campus of L's choice and acceptance of course)
Reading the scriptures
Revising the food stocking plan to fit our move
Find some time for genealogy
More reading
Offer cooking lesson activities to YW
Teach cooking tips to friends
More baking (we're talking eclairs, baby!!!)

The rest and "in betweens"... We'll leave them in the capable hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm sure He has some great ideas up His sleeves.

I'll be around, just not as often, but I'll blog worthy news, occasional ramblings and life-altering moments or even just to throw in a laugh or two. We'll see...

Til' next post!

I Won! & Love Dare Challenge- Day 21

Do you like the new look of my blog? I won it from one of my tablescaping blog buddies! Jan, Tom, thank you! It looks great!

Day 21

Love is Satisfied in the Lord

"And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not." Isaiah 58:11 KJV

DARE:
Be intentional today about making a time to pray and read your Bible. Try reading a chapter out of Proverbs each day (there are thirty-one—a full month’s supply), or reading a chapter in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). As you do, immerse yourself in the love and promises God has for you. This will add to your growth as you walk with Him.

What I Did:
This is a little bit more difficult to do, but instead, we prayed about all the people we care about and asked Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ to watch out over them and comfort them.

Caught with Both Hands and a Smile

My family's been both concerned and happy for me lately. Concerned because I am sooo into my new blog, but also happy because I am soooo into my new blog!

You see, I'm so insecure about what I can do that I am perfectly comfortable just curled up on the couch with a good book, chocolate and a blanket. So, when I got into this blogging, all four of them, where three is often updated, they cannot be more happier for me. Then I decided to just take another leap and do a tablescape blog.

After last year's Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve tables, this old friend and I reunited again in such a level that I wanted to own every single plate out there so I can mix and match, coordinate, be posh and have so much fun! I've secretly salivated over scrapbook, photography and decorating blogs, but even then I wasn't that motivated to start my own about my love of these works of art of the dining realm.

When was the last time you took a look at your table and said, "I want it to feel like we're in Asia, or a chic restaurant". How about asking if you can pretend that the president of your husband's company will decide to pop in?

Well, I did and still do; everyday actually. You see, if I'm not thinking of homework, my children and dh, or Feng Shui or I'm rather stressed about something, I often think of calming, beautiful or exotic tables that take me away from what ails me at the moment. Want proof of this insanity? Last Saturday, after our awesome V-day dinner, I was so fatigued that I couldn't get up the next day, to attend church.

I literally was frozen on the bed and had to rely on the kids to check in on us, at least me since Charlie's already in dreamland after telling me he has a chest cold and crawled into bed next to me. I tried to answer comments and visit blogs, but I couldn't so I took solace in reading and re-reading my new blog, What Now? - I amused myself with my own silly alter ego, the eager and willing simpleton who is easily pacified with a great picture of a decorated table. After a while, the need to post again got the best of me, but since I still couldn't really move, I decided to browse other tablescape blogs.

Lo and behold, I came across "Between Naps on the Porch" where Susan, a Georgian beauty, expertly and beautifully catalogs her "down-right gorgeous" tablescaping so she can share it with her over 300 followers! I think I'm #351 by the time I decided to become a fan and publicly announce my allegiance. Her photographs are amazingly clear that you can almost find yourself sitting at that table, ready to eat such fine food served on only the best set of dishes on a table so well made up that you may not actually be able to eat anything! I left a comment despite her disclaimer that because she has so many to acknowledge, she may not get to me, her newest guest, to answer back. Honestly, I was sad because I wanted her opinion on my recent accomplishment, my Valentine table.

I didn't need to feel sad; she responded within the hour and with such a sweet approval of the table that I felt like a little kid again being rewarded by a good and understanding teacher. It was truly an honor. And her blog is not just a gawking board either. Everyday, she and her friends do a little tribute to something every single day that makes their blog community as tight as any real friendship. It is simply amazing! None have any use of crude words, misspellings or "blonde" remarks. These are accomplished, beautiful women that love to decorate and tablescape as much as I do! What a blessing indeed! I feel their love and friendship through their comments and also learn from each one as I reciprocate the appreciation.

The feeling is indescribable; I found somewhere I belong even just through our fairly anonymous blogs and shared love of things beautiful and wonderful. I don't have to worry about being ignored as if I'm invisible or be let to leave comments without so much as a thank you. Talents, nature and family, that's our bond. (I think that's why I like the SITS blog too, they make sure that whoever joins know and practice the courtesy of leaving a comment when someone left a comment. Common courtesy, so easy and yet so hard to grasp. I'm so thankful for my family for understanding and supporting this side of me.

Sometimes, you pray for sunshine, sometimes for rain, but sometimes you pray that you find people that can relate to what makes you feel alive. And because you want answers, you take that leap of faith, hoping against hope that He will catch you with both hands. Finding Susan's blog and getting to know her friends, I was definitely caught with both hands and a smile to boot.

I hope you find your great blog family, too. You deserve it!

Tablescaping...

Charlie came home today and the first thing out of my mouth was, "I decided to go ahead and do a blog about my tablescapes." Of course, that got him curious (which was my point, lol!)

He approved (Yay!!!) and now I can't wait to share more!

I've gone back and forth to see if this is something I want to do, and the more ideas I got in my head, the more I wanted to do the blog, but of course, it took Pink Ink's post, my baby Lisa's knowledge of picture manipulation and Charlie's helpful hints for me to make that leap of faith to share what I love.

Thanks Lara of Overstuffed for doing a plug and a link of my new blog on yours! I feel so loved!

I also have my new dining table on that blog and will post my upcoming Valentine tablescape on that blog. I can't wait!

Could you use $30 from Target, how about your friend? Go to "What Now?" and see if you can win! You have until February 13th, I'll announce the winner on Valentine's Day!

I hope you all visit that blog soon!

New Blog Name- Same site

Check it out... and tell me what you think!

Tag, you're it!

Ok, so there are many, many wonderful blogs out there, but sometimes you just need to highlight those that make you feel good about yourself. So what do you do, you make them feel good right back!

I miss all my AZ ladies, so this is to help us all reconnect. I'm so excited! This is my very first tag game.

So, here's what you do:

1. From your list of blogs, pick 1 blogger that you know or knew from AZ.

2. Tell a 2-sentence brief history of where you know them and how.

3. Describe them and their blog in 3 cool words.

4. Tag 4 bloggers you know or knew from AZ.

5. Click on the featured blog below then comment to invite them to come see yours.

Ok, so here's mine:

I chose... Three Little Ladies by Anne Hanson!

She was in the Gateway Ward in Gilbert, Arizona and was one of the RS teachers while I was there. She is such an inspiration to me; knowing her address and blog is such a treat!

FRIENDLY, BEAUTIFUL, and SMART!!!

Ok... I tag

Lara, Melissa, Anne, Tasha

Go on, make someone's day and tag them right back! :D

Ok, bye for now!

Just E-Scrappin'

If you've visited my blog the last few days, you've noticed all the different looks I've tried. No, you're not imagining it, I have indeed been trying different looks to hone my new skill- customizing my blog.

Where I did catch this bug? From all of you (so you're all to blame, lol!:D)

To the few blogs that I visit, I love the different levels of creativity.

Anyhoo... I've been having my family judge my efforts. They tell me which look, looks good or what colors I need to stick to, include pictures or not, and so on.

So, if you see that I have pink one hour then yellow the next, then just blame it on my curiosity in all things "personalized".

The above current title image got all thumbs up from everyone, so it may stick a while. Though... I wouldn't bet on it!

The pics below are some of what I've done so far. I've decided to do at least one every month so I can get more practice...

If you have time, can you tell me if you like it too?

Custom Headache!

I don't know what I was thinking... I've recently discovered how to customize my blog header and "poof!", it's like I have a new obsession!

No, I'm not using PhotoShop, nor am I using any specialized photocropping software. But that's not the issue, I've got that taken care of. The issue is finding the right background and fiddling with HTML jargon and placing the codes just in the right programming slot. Aaaahhhh!!!

Why do I these things to myself? I don't know, I guess that's my form of OCD. Once I like something, I have to have enough practice so that I can say I did it. Goofy, huh?

Anyway, my brain just focused on something, so I guess I'll be adding it here...

These "no sleep" nights are truly messing with me, but I know I just need to find that livable "timeslot" where I can get things done and keep my sanity at the same time. I've read from several blogs of being night or day owl, but me, I just want to be able to sleep at the same time every night. Preferrably the same time my kids do!

Also, I miss the Philippines like crazy, though again, it doesn't mean I want to rush out to get a roundtrip ticket (my bank account's a few thousand dollars short at the moment. Unless, Ophra Winfrey happens by this blog and feel compelled to grant this poor soul's wish). I'm a little more easily pleased than that; thank goodness!!!

I remember the snacks, condiments and the thirst-quenching drinks. Yum... So, with my stomach leading the way, we headed to our local Asian market and filled our cart with all sorts of goodies that reminded me of being back home, as a young and often hungry, child. Imagine my luck when I even came across one of the sodas I used to buy at a neighborhood or "sari-sari" store (normally sticking out of someone's house within any average Pedro's subdivisions).

Maybe someday, I can go back and enjoy these delicacies while on my way to the Manila, Philippines LDS temple.
