Dissolved But Not Forgotten

I used to belong to our church boundary called the "...3rd Ward", but tonight it was dissolved back mostly into the 2nd Ward while a few families, including us, now belong to the 1st Ward.
I saw so many in tears; and rightly so... For six years, many families formed such great and strong bonds of friendship that 6 years was a painful jolt that in one night, the same families would have one less day, the most important day, to associate. You see, we now have separate buildings to meet on completely opposite sides of the area.

As for me and my family, it was a mixed blessing... We only have to get up earlier and have new leaders to guide us. We still have the same great families that make us happy to go to church on Sundays and bless our lives with their kindness and friendships. Some of those other beloved families now belong to the other ward and we now have to find extra time and work harder to keep our friendships which in reality are not really that hard to do.

I will mostly miss my courageous Cutie Crew. I say courageous because every Sunday that I'm there, they brave being with someone who not only look different than they do in most aspects, but also, someone they collectively chose to trust and love back during those wonderful singing and play times. They are amazing toddlers... They played well together, they knew each other and that unconditional love that only innocence can maintain was always so strong in that room that you can't deny that there is a loving and perfect God who watches out for us...

So long "... 3rd Ward". I will miss you, but I will never forget you...

No Pictures...

Just really happy that Mr. Man is finally home (in the door, 8PM) and I got to spend time with my Cutie Crew in Nursery today!

I did bake another loaf of bread and he loved it! (Lol, he told me not to use it for regular sandwiches) Gotta love a guy that says that about your baked goods! ;-)

Have a great week everyone!

My family's whole again plus Michelle!

Mr.Man met L-Infinity at the airport and both of them were able to get on the earliest flight after his shift. Yay!!! We picked them up curbside at 1:45 then went straight home and feasted on mac-n-cheese and other leftovers.

Look, my heart's all full again! I can breathe... Can't you tell my smallish kiddos are happy, too? ;-)
See? See? Mr. Man and all three of my babies (I-Dude, L-Infinity and J-Pony)! And Michelle is still here, so our little unit is alive with laughter, food, fun and non-stop talking! (Excuse the hairdos, they are sportin' the "we just woke up" look.)
Of course, I promised Mr. Man his "Honey Butter French Bread" so I made it right after lunch time, after I made the "Choc' Full O' Nana" Bread. Yes, all, I baked three loaves of bread! Can't you tell Michelle couldn't wait to taste some? *hee hee*
See how happy she is when she got her piece? Had to take a shot of her priceless reaction.
And L-Infinity, too! My poor baby hadn't eaten for hours, since lunch. LOL
See what warm bread does, all of a sudden they're best buds! I know how to bribe my girls into behaving... LOL
Yes, more bribing with great food!
I did a seaside tablescape and here's Michelle, showing off her bread "dolphin" swimming behind SS Chandy out on the water. *breeze wafting*
Then I-Dude and J-Pony raced to see who can eat the quickest.
And J-Pony wins! Though she's normally the slowest most times, when it comes to certain foods, she can outeat any of us. Yay!

I am so exhausted, but this is definitely one of the best Sundays ever!

"Happy" "Happy" Day!

At least today, it is for us! It's Sunday, it's Father's Day, it's officially Summertime and something else. Hmmmm. What could it be? Well, whatever it is, it's making Cece bored from waiting, and...

Dexter's getting fidgety...

Are they waiting for Mr. Man to come home from the airport and pick up the two smallish kiddos from church? (I had to stay home with L-Infinity; her tummy was a little sickie) Maybe... what did I forget? Oh I know, it's also... (drum roll please) J-Pony's 10th birthday! Yay!!!

Back in 1999, on this very day, at 6:12 PM, I gave birth to a baby girl with a peach fuzz head! LOL She looked like a lollipop that her pediatrician who looked her over said, "I don't know how you could be 8 lbs. 2.5 oz. You're so tiny." Then he measured her head and declared, "That's where the 8 lbs. went!" LOL

She was supposed to be Mr. Man's Father's Day gift back in 1999, the date, June 19th. But she had her own schedule and came out 2 days late! (That's her... ;-D) Now here we are, 10 years later, she is again his ultimate gift from me. J-Pony thinks that is one sweet deal and is quick to remind him that. LOL

Since then, she's been helping us welcome Summer and gracing us with this great smile and I can't wait to see more.

(We took this shot at exactly 6:12PM)

Since it's also Father's Day, I had to set the table of course. And to give it a more neutral look, I chose blue and green. This is what J-Pony requested, rice and teriyaki porkchop (I made the teriyaki sauce myself, too). I also let them have more of the sweet rolls that I made yesterday, which Mr. Man raved about. Yay!
Then it's time to open some of Grandma & Grandpa M's gifts! Here's Daddy and I-Dude to the rescue! If you click the picture to enlarge it, you'll see L-Infinity on the couch, under a blanket because her body is still a little blah from the tummy bug... Poor baby... ;-( What's that? It's a Betty Crocker Junior Cookbook! I guess I'll be cooking more! LOL She can't wait to use that.
The other one, it's a computer game! She loves games like these, great choice grands! (wink, wink)
Now on to some "keck" time! I mean, cake (aherm). Sorry about that, Mr. Man loves to make funny sounds with some common words with the kiddos. You can only live under the same roof for so long before you sound like the others, you know. LOL

Each candle is worth two years and if you still remember your multiplication table, that equals to... 10! How do you like the cake? Yes, I made that, too! She asked for a marble cake and marble I delivered. Gotta please the birthday girl, right? Right!
"Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday to you..." (singing somewhat off key) Isn't she so patient? What could she be wishing for? (Let's hope it's getting us a brand spanking new house with some land and horse or two for her. Wouldn't that be a grand wish to grant? Any fairies listening?) I better not ask her or it won't come true.
And the candles are out! Yay!!! (all clapping)
Here's what each slice looked like. Mr. Man said it was moist and the kiddos loved it. (So beaming right now...)

Oh, how rude of me, this is your delish slice of her cake. I guarantee it to melt in your mouth.

Thanks for celebrating her 10th birthday with us! Hope you enjoyed the cake!

Total Cost; FREE!

Sundays are More Special Now...

During a regular week, do you find yourself thinking quietly how you want it to end or do you just zip by and brace for the next Monday to grind at the proverbial "nose to the grindstone and back to the wheel" mode or be content on that stationary hamster wheel? Thank goodness, for me and my family, Sunday has always been a special time for reflection, gratitude and togetherness, but since last week, the Sabbath, just became more meaningful.

Ever since I got called to the Nursery, being at church took on another meaning. Sure, I've had this calling three other times, and each one brought the same feelings, and that's what gives it meaning for me, the consistency, the confirmation that despite the noise, crying, occasional hitting and pushing, I am in the presence of perfection, divinity and unconditional love and friendship. Young children are truly amazing...

During a very stressful week, I can always count on each Sabbath day to force me to fear, ponder and enjoy God's company. I teach my children that this world has a purpose, they have a purpose and that I am grateful to be entrusted with them, who are, in a few years from now, will be capable of changing the world for the better, if they so choose to side with our dear Lord, Jesus Christ and His gospel. To fathom their potential is mind-boggling!

I never thought I could handle being away from my husband even just for a day, but I slowly realize that the more I pull away, the more I'm given the opportunities to be able to face it and endure much. I am more loving, patient, happy and appreciative of my husband during our time together and with the children because I want him to leave with the strong desire to come back home when he's able to. Our children pick up on that enthusiasm and we are a closer family for it. We talk more, though we do compensate for his absence and shorter stays with chores and projects, but at the end of the day, things are truly better...

Having my own children someday had been a childhood dream, but having my prince charming come out with them into the real world with me is something I can never take for granted. I can watch my family sleep, read and talk all day. To them, my cooking is what gets people to come and stay a while, but to me, it's my happiness radiating out because of them. And for that, people come and try to see for themselves why.

Each and every Sunday has never been just any other day to me, but now, with an added strength, love and faith that my family's being blessed with, Sundays are more special now...

A New Baby, A New Hope for the World

No, I'm not having a baby!

But our dear friends Matt and Cori Adams did today at 8:23 am. Adalynne Ann (I think that's how it's spelled) made this beautiful and deserving couple, parents! Cori always wanted a baby so this cutie will always be a loving reminder of the answer to those fervent prayers.

We went over there right after church and though it was about 30 minutes away, it was worth the drive to and from after holding that sweet bundle of joy for almost 30 half an hour. (sigh...)

Despite all the horrors in this world, one cannot discount the calming nature of newly born children, the newest living gift, a physical tangible blessing, a true and pure miracle from a loving Heavenly Father. A truly powerful symbol of hope and purity. I love babies!

Went back to Nursery today and the Cutie Crew remembered me and welcomed with hugs and big smiles! One cried for about 5 minutes so we left him alone and once he saw snacks and all the activities, he came and joined in with no problem! Can't beat that result, huh?

A Table for Mothers

Here's your seat...

Hope you like it!

Mothers: The Rarest Gift

FIRST, A tidbit about my MOM: She currently lives in California, as vibrant and beautiful as the day we moved from there though she is already 71 just last April 12th. She came here to the US when I was just 5 and worked here for 10 years to earn enough money to petition all of us. She has the stereotypical Chinese eyes, the kind that disappears when laughing or smiling. She taught me that "Be good" means just that- to be good at everything. She didn't mean competitively but rather be a good person in approaching everything. And with that saying in my head all these years, I found myself saying it to my own family. I'm glad I do...

Here she is with my fam at my oldest bro's apartment. (J-Pony is watching the tube)

Here's Mr. Man with Mama; she calls him her "Handsome". I agree!

Here she is at my third older bro's mini-mansion, last April, celebrating her 70th birthday! LOVE YOU, MAMA!

And here are my darling in-laws! (Taken last July)

My MIL "F" indirectly taught me to love being at home and being the mother of a home. I loved going to her house and just see her transform the rooms every month. And my SIL "K", she has a great sense of humor (I love hearing her laugh) and kind eyes that mimic her personality...

Here are the other lovely ladies of my family...
My lovely SIL (3rd bro's wife) "M", has a great singing voice and my awesome sis, "R", who rocks for raising two children on her own!

My other pretty SIL, "C" (4th bro's wife). She is sophisticated and fun. Loves to travel Europe!

Here's my sis with her children and mine... "AC" is shy and "KS" just adores me for taking his picture. LOL
My second bro's darling wife, "M". She is very kind and genuinely interested in all of us. Plus, she's the one who tamed "A", the wild mustang of the family. He didn't have to chase the girls, if you know what I mean. ;-)

I haven't forgotten about the other mothers out there... I offer all of you a rare orchid plant!

The rare wild Dendrobium parishii Rchb.f.
It is one species of the most beautiful orchids in the world !
Protection and production of orchids in their natural habitats need to go hand in hand, and the involvement of local ethnic people needs to be assured. This is the way to prevent the exinction of wild orchids in the intensely utilized landscapes of Asia.

It is a deciduous orchid native to lower elevations in Southeast Asia. The thickened stems are usually prostate or pendulous, to ½ inch (1.3 cm) thick by 12 inches (30 cm) long. They are easy to culture and a good orchid for beginners.

Blooming: In late spring to early summer, the 2 inch (5 cm) wide rose to lilac purple flowers appear on leafless stems.

Culture: Dendrobium parishii need full sun to partial shade with fast draining compost.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL OF YOU!

The Cutie Crew Tours Dallas!

... with the help of the Lap Bus!

We only had four children today in Nursery but boy, were they awake! They were ready for anything and welcomed the two great ladies who helped me, Shari and Anna! (You both rock!)

They ate all the snacks, lesson, songs and games we did, but it wasn't enough. They even chased each other and screamed with delight on practically everything! You know that young children love to be entertained so I made up the Lap Bus!

Using my lap as the bus, and with some key rattle, we went to the Dallas Aquarium, Zoo, Arboretum, and even McDonald's for lunch! Anna even gave them a tour on her Lap Jeep to other various places including the library where they got books on helping to clean up the toys!

It was so much fun! I so love being in the Nursery; seeing the littlest ones learn and enjoy themselves is its own reward. Any Nursery leader can see that. I'm just grateful that I do, too!

We started the lesson with Shari reading from the scriptures after our own Cutie Crew member, Madeline said the prayer, I gave the lesson and we ended the class with Red Light/Green Light with Anna. You gotta love Nursery! The kids are just our source of energy! Yeah!

At home, we had the funnest lunch as our own Mr. Man got us laughing over how to teach our children to help me distract other shoppers to secure the great deals. His best one for 90% off deals was to have our children go up to the other women and ask, "Are you my mommy?" LOL
L-Infinity said, "I would so do that!" while laughing her head off and J-Pony said, "If she does it, I'll do it, too so mommy can get her great deals!" I-Dude said, "Me, too. No, I won't..."

There's only one other thing I'm waiting for to go down at least 60% off. I'll tell you when I get it, IF I get it. It hasn't broken over 55% off yet since I saw it after Christmas, so I'm trying to be really patient! ;-)

How was your Sunday?

Not Into Superbowl?

Then watch the Food Network Cake decorating challenge marathon with us!

Since three o'clock, we've watched a wedding cake national competition, cater my wedding contest and now engagement cake challenge. It was definitely a Ladies' Time-Out type of day as Charlie is asleep, Lisa is homework bound and Jas with Ian, playing with the Barbies. We indulged ourselves with chips and dip, pork rinds, oreos and popcorn-washed down with juice and powerade. (Who says, we can't eat like most that are piggin' out over Superbowl mania?)

Dinner is sweet and sour pork with steamed rice. More yummies... Want some?

Random addition:

Nursery was awesome today!!! We only had three of our cutie crew, but the schedule so helped me. I love this calling!

Ok, here's some of the great deals I found while cruising with Michelle on Friday afternoon.

Merona Peep toes/ Target: $6.24!!! (originally $24.99)

Asian vase/Ross:$3.99!!! (originally $14.99)

And something else for me $3.62!!! (originally 14.99)

Michelle found her B&BW body splash scent B2G1F, saving $12!

Also, my tablescape is coming together; I just need one more thing and it'll be done for your viewing pleasure.

A Great Sunday!

Today, we made it to sacrament, but didn't get inside the chapel right away. Actually, we had to circle to the other side of the chapel to get a better view of any leftover spaces. We found some seats in the overflow (which is unusual that it was opened). Our first counselor to the bishop and his wife were called to head a mission involving the storehouse, for 18 months. Both were asked to share their testimony and their family members came to listen (why else would the overflow be needed?). They spoke after two young men that knew that prayer and using a good compass can lead to a better you. This couple's testimony brought both tears and laughter throughout the whole room as each relayed their excitement and anxieties over their upcoming mission. It was an amazing moment for all of us as this couple is dearly beloved within the ward. Even our children were all quiet, not listening, but quietly doodling away, as if letting us soak in all that we are hearing. Thank goodness for the purity of little children. I feel so blessed to have my three, that's for sure!

Their topic, "losing yourself in service". What a great reminder! I'm glad I came, attended sacrament and opened myself to any kind of service I can render those three short hours. Again, like a great spa, I came out feeling refreshed and full of hope that my family and I were better for it.

To top that a bit, my friend Heather Wolfe came to sacrament! I know how hard it is for her to sit in one place because of her MS, but that didn't deter her from coming today. It was great to have had the chance to visit with her for a little bit before I headed to Nursery, where I was rewarded with pretend sprinklings of S&P, guessing games and song requests as well as three exciting rounds of "Ring Around the Rosie".

Then, my daughter Lisa, reacting from her wonderful time in YW, volunteered to make lunch of eggs and rice (either she really wants those eggs or she's buttering me up for something else later. Hey, no problem here, yes or no, I get to enjoy some eggs!).

Last night, I also heard from a few friends that I've been kind of worrying about. It turned out that two had to move and the others just had a busy, busy schedule. Whew! ?(my nerves are again at peace with the world- ohm... ohm...)(yoga pose numbing my legs and fingers)

Thanks for reading!

It Must be Sunday again...

Well, as you can tell, it is Sunday and of course that's when things go awry in my household. My kids seem to let go, in concert, of any excess pent up energies from the week and let it out on this, what should be reverent, day!

There's the disappearing dress pants trick, the "I don't know" disease infecting all three, and the infamous, "But Mommy..." epidemic resurfacing during wake-up calls. And now this! Lately, my kids have been getting away with stuff because of "technicalities" on how I say things, so they've been trying to "snag" me in my own "Do as I say" net...

Jasmine: "Mommy can I wear the plaid dress?"
Me: "What plaid dress?"
Jasmine: "The one from the neighbors."
Me: (remembering it was a spaghetti strapped dress) "What shirt are you going to wear with it?"
Jasmine: "Shirt? I don't know; if I can't find one, can I still wear it?"
Me: "What shirt are you going to wear with that?"
Jasmine:(a pause) "Ok, I think I know what shirt could go good with this."
Me: "If you find the shirt, you can wear the dress..."
Jasmine: "Yay! Ok, I'll go look for the shirt now!"

If I didn't remember that it was a strappy dress, Jasmine would have worn it as is and I would've been snagged in the net of "You said it was ok to wear..."

No one can get up from almost three weeks of staying up late and yo-yo temp inside the house, from the yo-yo weather outside! I finally fell asleep when Charlie knocked on the door (from work) asking for the indoor lock to be opened, at 8:30AM! On top of that, after I go back to bed, by the time I was supposed to get up, my back was so stiff, I couldn't get out of bed even when I wanted to! Obviously, we didn't make sacrament of course and on the way to the church, Ian just kept growling at his sisters for whatever reason he deems at the moment.

What was on my mind, "I wish I stayed home today!"

But then of course there's always the rainbow after the rain. I have a new calling; a Nursery Assistant. I had a lot of fun helping the children sing songs, color, and play with toys that I would have spent hours on myself.

When we got home, Charlie offered to make his Sunday fave, Mac-n-Cheese (though I no longer eat it), and let me stay in the room for a few quiet minutes! When I came out, he had them enthralled about these savants who can calculate large numbers and read with one eye on each page and remember 98% of it! Gotta love good stories!

Then there's the beautiful Sunday music that just warms your insides like a good mug of hot cocoa. It felt wonderful despite the commotion between my three treasured gems. (What was it now, the complicated task of choosing a Sunday appropriate video that all three of them like. I know, evil mom!)

Maybe one of these Sundays, we'll have everyone ready by a full 30 minutes before the Sacrament starts and my children have nothing but sweet words for each other. Well, I can dream can't I? Or is that being faithful? I'll settle for hopeful...

Overall, I think I can count it a good day; everyone's limbs are intact; three warring voices, yes, but still three voices! My three gems' voices. The best blessing of the day.

Of course, if I want peace and quiet, there's always tomorrow... When all of them go back to school! Yes, bliss!
