We made NHS!

Ok... Only L-Infinity, but we still celebrated it as a family! We are very pleased to read the following from the letter she got while in Choir today... Of course we found out after school, but she got the letter in the morning. Yes, she already did her happy dance and was able to be "cool" about it when she was hinting in the car. ;-)

I'm glad the shot turned out clear enough. I can never tell unless I'm looking at the computer screen.

So now you know; no one will be home on that day. It's Mr. Man's day-off and we will take our children out to dinner to celebrate. Plus we just found that she'll be among the few that made it to the Honors Night in the next few weeks after. So yes, we won't be home then either...

A big thank you to all of those who helped her get accepted. Her service hours were 10 times more than what was required and her recognitions, grades and leadership experiences put it over the top.

A great news after a bad one yesterday, don't you think?

Also great news:

~I wanted some dark purple and white tulips, found them at Tom Thumb

~I made a list of "must buy" for my dish collecting, found one of them at Target

~I had a great lunch with one of my awesome neighbor and friend Amy, then we also hit some model homes and "critiqued" the decor, lol!

~I-Dude got a good behavior stamp today. Awesome!

~J-Pony received the "Frog Award" in Science today for exhibiting all 6 character traits. Great!

~I was able to get a friend of mine a hand mixer, thru Freecycle, that has a dough hook since she loves to bake!

~J-Pony found her long lost 2nd pair of "training" CZ star & 10K gold earrings. You know the kind that had to be shot into your ear at the local mall? We thought we've lost it in Arizona since she had to take them off from constant tugging that it was irritating her ears.

I hope you all had a great day!

Cinderella; In Our House?

Yes, and she found her Prince Charming just in time- for Modesty Prom!

We all know the story... Cinderella (aka Lisa) was a good soul that was granted a special wish- to go to the ball. All the eligible men (priests) and maidens (laurels) are invited to this special gathering at the palace (Eddie Deen's Ranch in Dallas). But instead of the prince waiting for her...
Ok, I'm getting ahead of myself. First, after Cinderella was granted the wish, she had to find just the right dress and she did! But Fairy Godmother knows no dress is complete without the perfect pair of glass slippers!

With her beautiful Rhinestone-banded Greek Goddess Royal Blue halter dress (with a cute white fluffy shirt to make it modest) on that the Fairy Godmother (Me) came up with by going to The House of Ross, she was ready for the prince (Daniel) who graciously came to personally pick her up!

Here they are, the couple of the evening. Many maidens wished that they could be so lucky. A grand dress fit for a princess, and a prince so charming, he can keep her smiling! When he saw her, he simply said, "I knew it... She would accent the dress." Both Fairy Godmother & Godfather (aka, Charlie; he took most of the pictures) and Cinderella went, "awwww..."

Don't they look so cute together?

First, they have to eat to get the nervous energy out. Where to go but the best restaurant in town! At Chez Mama Bonbon (Me again), of course! She just loves this couple when they came in that she gave them the best table with fine dinnerware and made a whole new menu...
They both quietly dined in the romantic glow of candlelights and feasted on juicy and tender
T-bone steak (thanks, Annette!), Mashed red potatoes with parsley and parmesan, Broccoli with cheese... They quenched their thirst with Berry Bubbly and Ice Water. Then... to honor them further, Mama Bonbon made them a very special treat- an
Angel Cake muffin with hidden diced strawberry inside and topped with whipped cream to send them on to their special gathering and make a grand entrance.

The whole meal was so good, they only left crumbs and left Chez Mama's with more energy to spare.

Lisa had a great time and that awesome ensemble, so cheap! Dress- $25, Shoes- $12, undershirt- $5.
We went shopping with one of the younger Mia Maids. (Thank, Liz! The Fairy Godmother loves your style!)

Being an Example- Lisa

Last night, we were at Lisa's YW New Beginnings activity called, "Miss Latter-day Saint" to welcome in two new girls. This year's theme is about being an example to others. They acted like pageant contestants representing the different values in different colors. They even changed to dresses! It was so fun and hilarious seeing the girls be total hams while trying to look sophisticated! :-)

It was also great how all the other girls nominated Lisa to be Miss Knowledge and asked her to show up in her GREEN Academic Decathlon T-shirt. It is also funny to me how they nominated her Miss Knowledge. My daughter is a smart cookie no doubt, but there are a lot she can learn about herself; 90% of her day is spent in school. Sometimes in all that pile of homework, Mutual doesn't get included in the priorities of the week which our bishop lovingly reminded us parents that our daughters need to build their testimonies on.

Back to the "being an example" bit. Lisa is a great example of sticking to her academic and moral guns. She has a rainbow of friends because she tries to relate to most people without sacrificing her religious beliefs. I just love that about her. Is she perfect at it? No, (who is) but the fact that she tries is more than half the battle.

We love her personal rule of "NO CHEATING" it doesn't matter if it was a friend or an acquaintance that asked. She doesn't want cheating associated with her name, so she's quick to let her friends know that she'll help them understand the lesson but not give them the answers. Lisa has friends that are cheerleaders, band members, emo, dancers, athletes, other eggheads and those of other "in" crowds at school. It amazes me to no end, because I was a wall flower myself but I love that she can easily make friends and that she earns respect her way...

Being an example, it's a personal choice... And Lisa, is a great example of academic integrity, modesty and being a friend. So, in our eyes, she is "MISS LATTER-DAY SAINT"...
